Tonight, in honor of the 52nd yahrtzeit of Rav Refoel Reuven Grozovsky zt”l, a gathering will be held at Bais Medrash Kehillas Bais Yisroel, located at 5602 11th Avenue in Boro Park, Brooklyn.
Rav Reuven, a son-in-law of Rav Boruch Ber Leibowitz zt”l, was a Torah giant who served as rosh yeshiva in the pre-war Kaminetzer Yeshiva and after Churban Europe in Yeshiva Torah Vodaas and Bais Medrash Elyon in Monsey. He was an engineer of the budding, fledgling Torah community in post-war America, and was tremendously active in Hatzolah work during the Holocaust. He was moser nefesh to try to save the remnant of European Jewry located in Europe, Siberia and Shanghai. Rav Reuven became perhaps the greatest voice of true hashkafas haTorah in the first decade after World War II when the difficult question arose of how G-d fearing Jews were to relate to the new phenomenon of the secular State of Israel.
Tonight’s gathering will begin at 8 p.m. preceded by Maariv. Rav Boruch Ber Grozovsky, a grandson of Rav Reuven, will address the gathering and deliver a shiur from his zaida.
