Tonight: Gedolim to Grace Annual National Convocation of P’eylim / Lev L’Achim in Bnei Brak

lev-lachim[7 p.m. IDT, 12 p.m. EST: Click here to watch live. Link below as well.] Special report: Each year, this is the time when the national P’eylim / Lev L’Achim movement convenes its annual convention which brings thousands of  p’eylim and Bnai Torah from all across the country to Bnai Brak for a day of training, camaraderie and inspiration.

The high-point of the day is the special session where scores of the leading Roshei Yeshiva join with the elder Gedolei Yisroel to show their solidarity with Lev L’Achim and hear the call to arms which is renewed every year at this time.

This year’s event will take place today, Monday, April 12th at the massive Hechalei Malchut Hall in Bnai Brak with video hookups to additional nearby auditoriums to accommodate the thousands of attendees.

HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman has called this event Klal Yisroel’s “Kenesia Gedola” of our generation and indeed the magnificent dais evokes memories of those memorable events where the Torah leadership united in a remarkable display of kavod HaTorah.

rav-yitzchok-zilbersteinBesides for the “Ma’amad Maranan v’Rabbanan” where Rav Shteinman and other Gedolei Yisroel will address the gathering, the convention will feature an array of unique sessions geared to bolstering the field personnel of Lev L’Achim both with practical pointers and inspirational encouragement.

Rav Yitzchok Zilberstein, famed Rav of Ramat Elchanan and noted posek, will respond to halachic questions that have been submitted previously by people in the field and which he has discussed with his father-in-law HaRav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv.

Rav Uri Zohar will conduct a round table discussion with recent ba’alei teshuva. The insights garnered from this eye-opening session provide priceless insight into the thought process of those courageous souls who embark on the journey of return to Torah observance. Many Lev L’Achim personnel attribute their success in helping potential returnees to “see the light” to the sensitivities they absorbed during this annual session.

The theme of this year’s Asifa will be “Making Them All Bnai Torah” which encapsulates the Lev L’Achim credo of never leaving their charges until they are established as Bnai Torah in their own right. This means assuring that a child placed by PROJECT RISHUM in a Torah school has the tutors and homework help that he or she requires to keep up. It means that there will be people from Project Hemshech to ensure that they continue in a Torah High School when they graduate Elementary School. And it means that someone will follow their progress even after they graduate High School and are enrolled in a Yeshiva or Seminary.

This year’s event will mark the siyum of a new Lev L’Achim program. “Yeshivot Bain Hazemanim” was launched this year under the direction of the Mitchazkim division of the organization. Hundreds of teen-aged boys from secular homes, who have begun to explore yiddishkeit, were paired with Yeshiva students who made time during their Bain Hazemanim break to study with the boys and share the refreshing ruach of the Yeshivos.

Arrangements have been made to make the entire proceedings available to a worldwide audience through live audio and video links. To view the proceedings, click here.

  1. Thanks for the link! It was amazing to see so many Gedolim gathered on behalf of Kiruv Rechokim and all the other wonderful things that P’eylim / Lev L’Achim does. In an age of politics and money scandals, it was refreshing to see and hear about pure unadulterated Ahavas Yisroel on such a massive scale.

Lets hear more uplifting news like this and may it be a zchus for Shalom Mordechai Rubashkin and all of Klal Yisroel who need yeshuos and refuos!
