lakewood-cheder1This evening, The Lakewood Cheder and Bais Faiga will be holding its 44th Anniversary Dinner at Lake Terrace Hall in Lakewood, NJ. The Guests of Honor at the dinner are Rabbi and Mrs. Mordechai Schron. The Alumnus of the Year is Rabbi and Mrs. Aaron Stefansky. Special tribute will be paid to Rabbi Menachem Levin, esteemed menahel at the Cheder, commemorating his over three decades in chinuch.

A special memorial tribute at the dinner will be presented to the Rosenbaum family in memory of Rav Meyer Rosenbaum zt”l.

The Alumni Parent Harbotzas Torah awardees are Rabbi Yisroel Zalman Bursztyn, Rabbi Yehoshua Forchheimer, Rabbi Moshe Mayer, Rabbi Shimshon Rosenberg and Rabbi Yitzchok Semah.

Thanks to the generosity of a group of visionaries, The Lakewood Cheder will benefit from dinner contributions twice as much. At a pre-dinner meeting last Monday night, Rabbi Aharon Stefansky, who hosted the event, Rabbi Itche Rosenbaum and Rabbi Mordechai Schron surprised the attendees with an unusual announcement.

“Any money pledged or raised by the Lakewood Cheder/Bais Faiga parent body from now until the dinner,” they said, “will be matched, raised or donated, dollar for dollar, by the Vaad Hacheder together with the honorees. The matching offer has a cap of $500,000 and will be in effect until the dinner.”

“That figure is impressive, and it is also realistically attainable,” says R’ Moshe Dovid Perlstein, one of the campaign coordinators. With a combined parent and grandparent body exceeding 5,000, the number is well within reach. With the positive energy infused in the current campaign, reaching our goal of $500,000 is a strong likelihood.”
