Lakewood, NJ – If Dr. Reuven Shanik’s office is closing at 6 p.m. for the day, something important must be taking place. Perhaps just as dear to Dr. and Mrs. Shanik as the care and chessed they perform for their patients is their Ahavas Tzedakah campaign through which they collect tzedakah for needy people in Lakewood. Through ads and contacts in each neighborhood, Dr. and Mrs. Shanik raise hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to help families in town.
The list of those needing help has grown, however, to the point that the Shaniks can’t shoulder the burden on their own. Therefore, they’re turning to the community at large to take part in a parlor meeting this Tuesday, 10 Tammuz/July 12, in the parking lot of Dr. Shanik’s office, at Fourth Street and Madison Avenue, to help them raise the needed funds. The event, for men, will feature remarks from Rav Simcha Bunim Cohen and Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin.
The community knows that the Shaniks are available whenever called upon. The kehillah is now being asked to help the Shaniks in this vital cause that is so dear to them. The attendance of the kehillah members will be a tremendous source of chizuk for Dr. and Mrs. Shanik.
