telshe-roshei-yeshiva1The Chicago community together with alumni of the Telshe Yeshiva of Chicago worldwide will gather tonight for the long-awaited yovel dinner of Telshe Yeshiva. The monumental celebration will take place this evening at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Chicago and will feature the venerable roshei yeshiva as distinguished honorees.

A half century ago, Rav Avrohom Chaim Levin and, lhbcl”c, Rav Chaim Schmelczer zt”l arrived in Chicago with twelve talmidim to found the fledgling yeshiva. One year later, they were joined by Rav Chaim Dov Keller. Now, five decades and thousands of talmidim later, the yeshiva will celebrate this milestone with over a thousand attendees, including more than 200 alumni and guests from out of town.

The guest speaker will be internationally renowned speaker and historian Rav Berel Wein, one of the founders of the yeshiva and a brother-in-law of Rav Levin and Rav Keller.

  1. Weatehr is horrible here! Hope the guests can all make it. BH, the group flight with 75 alumni from Newark is in the air already!! The large Minneapolis contingent will have a very hard time though!

  2. Whoever could make it, please make the effort to go to the Dinner! Let’s all show the proper Kovod Hatorah to Our Roshei HaYeshiva Shlita.

    A Dear Talmid

Bezras Hashem it’ll be a Mai’med of true Kovod Hatorah!!!!

  4. unfortunately, many people’s flights have been canceled or diverted to other cities, which is of no help. All the time, effort, and kochos that were put in to make this dinner a success, all the people who worked on it deserve a tremendous “yasher koach” The weather is something that is totally under Hashem’s domain. May everyone continue to go machayil el chayil ad meah ve’esrim!!

  5. The Rosh HaYeshiva Rav Chaim Dov Shlita just finished a very powerful shmooze in the Yeshivas main Bais Medrash.

The Rosh HaYeshiva spoke about always going ‘al pe daas Torah’ and following in the footsteps of your rabeim….not like Shimon V’Levi that didnt ask there Rebbe and Father…. and The Rosh HaYeshiva ended the Shmooze on a emotional note telling all Talmidim that one thing everyone here can remember….they were Zoiche to come to the Yeshivas 50th Yovel Dinner….as we don’t know how many of us will be Zoiche to be here by the Next Yovel Dinner-May Mashiach come B’Korov and we’ll all be Together in Yerushalayim. Amen.

Immediately after the Shmooze the Entire Oilom started singing “Yomim al yimei Melech Tosif….”
