Top Contenders to Succeed British Prime Minister Cameron Are Israel Supporters

The two leading contenders to succeed David Cameron as Conservative prime minister in the UK are Justice Secretary Michael Gove and Home Secretary Theresa May, both of whom are staunch supporters of Israel.

Gove, 48, is one of Parliament’s most passionate pro-Zionists who has denounced BDS as “a crime.”

May, 59, a committed Christian, is a friend of the Jewish community and has spoken to a variety of charities, particularly the Community Security Trust.

In the wake of the Paris terror attacks last year, May said, “I could never have imagined Jewish people being too scared to stay in Britain.” Without its Jews, she said, “Britain would not be Britain.”
