Russian military intelligence executed a cyberattack on at least one U.S. voting software supplier and sent spear-phishing emails to more than 100 local election officials just days before last November’s presidential election, according to a highly classified intelligence report obtained by The Intercept.

The top-secret National Security Agency document, which was provided anonymously to The Intercept and independently authenticated, analyzes intelligence very recently acquired by the agency about a months-long Russian intelligence cyber effort against elements of the U.S. election and voting infrastructure. The report, dated May 5, 2017, is the most detailed U.S. government account of Russian interference in the election that has yet come to light.

This NSA summary judgment is sharply at odds with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s denial last week that Russia had interfered in foreign elections: “We never engaged in that on a state level, and have no intention of doing so.” Putin, who had previously issued blanket denials that any such Russian meddling occurred, for the first time floated the possibility that freelance Russian hackers with “patriotic leanings” may have been responsible. The NSA report, on the contrary, displays no doubt that the cyber assault was carried out by the GRU. Read more at The Intercept.

  1. If this report is top secret, how come we know about it? In other words, how do we know that this is a genuine report being leaked and not a made up piece of liberal propaganda? How can we be sure that such report exists all together? The article stating “independently authenticated” without saying by whom, confirms the bologna theory.

    • Respectfully, your argument is ridiculous. The Intercept is one of the most liberal news sources out there. Moreover, the NSA requested of The Intercept to redact portions of the NSA report (which they did). If the report was bogus, why would the NSA request for “bologna” information to be redacted? I rest my case.

      • Excuse me, I meant to say The Intercept is one of the most pro-Putin outlets you can find. They wouldn’t post an anti-Putin column unless there was some serious allegations that were corroborated.

  2. Breaking news: The FBI arrested the leaker, Reality Leigh Winner, an employee of Pluribus International Corporation, a contractor for NSA.

So it begins, finally. Some justice against the traitors.

FBI should go after the Intercept as well.

    • your 2 comments cant both be true either its made up and there were no leakers or they are authentic and a real was arrested

  3. Does anybody really believe that it affected the outcome people except for those getting free government candy are tired of the clintons and all that they stand for

  4. Hillary lost because she was bullied by Lincoln Chafee during the first Democrat debate and was never able to recover. He landed stinging blows from which she’s suffering to this very day.
