torah-vodaas-smallTonight, Lakewood will once again welcome the roshei yeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Vodaath at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ari Stern. Rav Moshe Wolfson, Rav Yisroel Belsky, Rav Yosef Savitsky and Rav Yisroel Reisman will be in attendance for the Fourth Annual Kabbolas Ponim for the yeshiva in the Ihr HaTorah.

Rav Belsky will be coming to Lakewood for his first public appearance since his miraculous recovery from his recent illness. Bechasdei Hashem, the thousands of tefillos were answered and Hashem Yisborach has granted the rosh yeshiva a refuah sheleimah. Many are looking forward to greeting him and hearing divrei chizuk from him and from the other guests who will be coming on behalf of Yeshiva Torah Vodaath.

In 1941, when Rav Aharon Kotler zt”l wished to establish a yeshiva such as the one he had left behind in Kletsk, he approached Rav Shraga Feivel Mendlowitz zt”l for assistance. Without hesitation, Rav Shraga Feivel selected the elite bochurim learning in Torah Vodaath, including Rav Elya Svei zt”l, Rav Yisroel Kanarek zt”l and Rav Yankel Weisberg zt”l. He sent the group to learn in Rav Aharon’s yeshiva in Lakewood, which eventually flourished and multiplied hundredfold into Bais Medrash Govoah of today.

For many years, the Lakewood community has continued to host a fair share of Torah Vodaath representation. Bais Medrash Govoah has been, and still is, the yeshiva of choice for many Torah Vodaath alumni, with several of them serving as roshei yeshiva, roshei chaburah, and on the board of governors.

More than a decade ago, a memorable conversation occurred between Rav Avrohom Pam zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Vodaath, and several askonim from Bais Medrash Govoah. The askonim approached Rav Pam to receive his permission to enlist the support of several influential baalei batim who were very active on the board of Torah Vodaath, to join the presidium of Bais Medrash Govoah. Rav Pam responded that if these men can help to facilitate the growth of Bais Medrash Govoah, then he will gladly acquiesce. Rav Pam personally attended the Bais Medrash Govoah installation dinner held in honor of these askonim. He addressed the attendees and cautioned his talmidim publicly, “Fargess nisht di mameh!”

Mosdos haTorah continue to battle the current economic situation. Torah Vodaath is a community mosad and must rely heavily on the public for support to continue to offer a top quality Torah chinuch. Torah Vodaath now turns to the Lakewood community once again and says, “Fargess nisht di mama!” Those who possess a direct association with the yeshiva and those who have benefited from the endless ripples that Torah Vodaath has undulated on the Torah world are asked to join now and show their support to Torah Vodaath at a critical time.
