The community of Bet Shemesh has been plunged into mourning with the passing of Reb Shmuel Shimon Avraham z”l, who perished last night while trying to rescue his sons in the water off of Lido Beach in Ashdod.
The 45-year-old father of five and Bet Shemesh resident was with his wife and children, including his 15- and 16-year-old sons. He lost contact with them and attempted to find them. He ultimately tracked them down and successfully pushed them to shore before being swept under by the waves.
After 9 p.m., calls were received by rescue personnel that a man had disappeared in the water. When Reb Avrohom was later found, he had no pulse. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
There were no lifeguards on duty at the time, as they had gone home for the day.
Reb Avrohom’s body was found with the assistance of a police helicopter as well as ZAKA divers. The body was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir.

What a sad incident to all of us Yidden!!! If only we all woke up from this and start doing the Mitzvos in a fashion that Hashem will be happy with us I an sure this sort of news will not be repeated.
I beg you all of Klall Yisroel to put on you thinking caps and do some thinking together with me just as I did, and see what has to be changed in our lives as Jews.
I can tell you that I have to improve my Davening, very important that when we talk to Hashem we should refrain from talking to our friends especially in Shull and on our cell phones during Prayers.
We must improve our Tznius, enough is enough. No more mini skirts, No more tight fitted clothing, No more tons (gallons) of make up, No more flashy clothing to attract attention from all the innocent men who pass by, no more speaking loud in the street because that too attracts attention, no more high heels that sound as if a horse was passing by, that too attracts attention from men.
Our Ahavas Chinom, love every single Jew even though he or she is not dressed the way “YOU” dress.
Be nice to the needy when they come to our door don’t make them wait don’t act in a hostile way to them. Give Tzodokah with a smile. Offer them a drink a snack or so.
Lets start watching our eyes, don’t go into places that you know in advance that the Pritzus is bad to begin with.
The above is just a hand full of examples for my self, everybody is welcome to come up with some more suggestions.
Lets hope and pray that we are Zocha to greet Moshiach in the near future.

As a beach goer I always see these guys go out way to far from the beach and then lose all their strength and can’t get back R’L
To #1- you are still too fresh from seminary. Real change comes from within after deep and steady self reflection.
General- this man was a true hero and father and when it came down to it he sacrificed his own life for his two sons to live theirs.

swim where there are lifeguards on duty. Even a lifeguard needs to swim where there is a lifeguard!

Excuse me, the lifeguards don’t “go home for the day”. They are there till 7 PM. Everyone must know that where there is no lifeguard, it is dangerous to go into the water. These drownings happen every year many times. People are unaware that the sea is dangerous. There are rules to be followed, and the first one is don’t go into the water without a lifeguard on duty. Stay between the red flags. Black flags mean going in is forbidden. This will save more lives than wearing sleeves to your wrists.
