It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of a 14-month-old boy in a tragic car accident in Monsey, NY, this afternoon.

The incident occurred on Johanna Lane, down the block from Roberts Road, in South Monsey when a 2015 Toyota Prius driven by an employee of a Spring Valley car service company hit the toddler, who was treated first by Hatzolah volunteers before being taken to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Suffern, NY, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The street has been closed and cordoned off as police investigate the deadly accident.

The incident occurred at about 5 p.m. at the end of a cul de sac, where the child’s family resides.

The baby is a son of Rabbi and Mrs. Szydlow.

Levaya details will be posted once they are finalized.

  1. Edith – that was a stupid comment. Why was a baby outside crawling in an active driveway. That is the question that the parents will be dealing with for the rest of their lives. Hashem should give them the strength to get through this. Don’t blame it on Goyishe taxi drivers. It could have been a Yiddishe driver too.
