biur-chometzThe East 30’s Jewish community of Brooklyn extends special thanks to Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein and Councilman Lew Fidler and their dedicated Staff’s for their help and efforts in arranging the extended sanitation services for this coming Pesach.

Additionally, thanks is extended to the NYC Department of Sanitation for their extra service and accommodations of the community’s special needs before Pesach.

Special chametz collections in the community board 18 area will be completed before noon Monday, April 18th.

You can begin placing refuse at the curb after 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 17th, 2011.

The Department of Sanitation asks that recyclables be placed at the curb before Midnight for pickup during special collections and regular refuse before 6am.

All containers must be removed from curbside prior to the start of the Holiday.

These special pickups are in addition to your regularly scheduled sanitation pickup.

In addition to the special collections, which will be completed by noon, Monday, April 18th, you can also deliver your refuse to public Department of Sanitation dumpsters arranged through my office at the following locations*::

❖ James Madison High School – Southside of Quentin Road (between East 27th and East 28th)

❖ Rite Aid Pharmacy – 2577 Nostrand Avenue (between L & M)

❖ City Park Adjacent to Derech Hatorah – 2810 Nostrand Avenue (between Kings Hwy. & P)

*Last minute changes may mean a dumpster is placed at a nearby location.

Please call either the district office of Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein (718) 648-4700 or the office of Councilman Lew Fidler at (718) 241-9330, to find out the exact location of any dumpster that has been relocated or for other sanitation related issues.

Please observe fire safety while burning the chametz by making sure young children are not left unattended and extinguishing the flame thoroughly after burning is complete.

Alternate side will be suspended on the following days:

Tuesday, April 19-Wednesday, April 20
Thursday, April 21
Friday, April 22
Monday, April 25
Tuesday, April 26
