Trump Administration Approves Tougher Visa Vetting

The federal government has released a brand new questionnaire for U.S. visa applicants all over the world that asks for social-media information over the past five years and biographical information over 15 years.

The questions were approved May 23 by the Office of Management and Budget, despite criticism from officials who believe the new application will create delays in processing—and discourage international students from coming to the United States. The State Department has said the tighter vetting will be used in particular on applicants “who have been determined to warrant additional scrutiny in connection with terrorism or other national security-related visa ineligibilities.” Read more.
