donald trumpRepublican voters are standing by Donald Trump as the top GOP presidential contender for 2016, according to a new poll published Monday by The Washington Post and ABC News. A new high of 24 percent of registered Republicans and Republican-leaning registered voters surveyed said they would vote for Trump—nearly double the 13 percent runner-up Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker received in the same poll.

The last day of the poll coincided with Trump’s incendiary comments that Sen. John McCain is “not a war hero.” It’s unclear if those comments affected his support.

Meanwhile, veterans’ groups blasted Trump’s assertion in a USA Today op-ed that he’s a big supporter of veterans. Paul Rieckhoff, founder and chief executive of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, told The New York Times Trump “is not a leader in veterans’ philanthropy, unless he’s donated a lot of money that nobody knows about.” Read more at The Washington Post.

  1. It just so happens that Trump does give a lot of his charity without any fanfare. He is a very giving person. He has given a lot of money to Jewish causes as well. I know this for a fact because I volunteer for a Frum Organization that deals with down syndrome children R”L and Trump has given a lot of Charity to this wonderful Organization.

  2. “Iran is responsible for more American deaths in the last quarter century than any other group or country.”

So Prager and NR are now 9/11 Truthers. Iran had as much to do with 9/11 as Saddam Hussein. And now just as we had a useless disastrous war with Iraq based on a lie, warmongers are calling for a similar useless disastrous war with Iran.

  3. Ah, don’t worry about the polls. The Donald will fan out soon. He’s getting these numbers because they are strictly media driven. He is a showman who knows how to play the media for the fools they really are. The voters aren’t into the seriousness of the elections yet. Its still a long way away. In the end, the race will boil down to three candidates: Bush, Walker, and Cruz. Just like me, Trump will be an afterthought next year at this time.

  4. Trump is what we need: not a professional politician, has plenty of his own money not to be beholden to some shady donors, not afraid of the establishment media, espouses common sense ideas that happen to be conservative, passionate, and a good communicator – even though he is not paranoid about his choice of words, that actually adds to his non establishment appeal.
