Speaking to a crowd in Warsaw, President Trump said Thursday that the “menace” of terrorism threatens “all of humanity,” the Daily Beast reports.
He proposed that the world strip terrorists of their “territory, and funding, and any ideological support they have.”
While reaffirming the U.S. commitment to NATO’s Article 5 principle of common defense, he added, “Europe must do more,” noting that America’s European allies must “fulfill their full financial obligations.” He also took a rare jab at Vladimir Putin, stating “We urge Russia to cease its destabilizing activities in Ukraine and elsewhere, and its support for hostile regimes.”
Citing his own efforts on U.S. borders, he noted, America “will always be closed to terrorism and extremism of any kind” and said, globally, “we are fighting hard against radical Islamic terrorism, and we will prevail.” Trump added, “We will confront them. We will win.”
