Trump to GOP: Unite and Defeat Obamacare ‘Monster’

trump1Donald Trump has called on divided Republican lawmakers to unite and defund the Affordable Care Act, which he fears will “shut down the government” if not stopped.

“The hard part for the Republicans is you have a group of people who want to do it and you have a group … [who] don’t want to do it and that puts the ones that want to do it in a very bad position,” Trump told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

“You really need to be unified if you’re going to do this . . . They have the chips – that’s what I do for a living, it’s called negotiation – and they should use the chips because they may not have another chance.”

Trump disputes the argument by some GOP lawmakers who oppose defunding that they would be blamed for a government shutdown if federal spending is held hostage.

“Obamacare is a disaster. Obamacare will shut down the government of its own weight pretty soon if we don’t do something about it,” he said.

“The Republicans have tremendous leverage at this point . . . This is the time and they have to do something about it . . . Approve a budget, but I would not include Obamacare in the budget.

“That way, at some point they’ll have to make a decision. Do we get rid of this monster, which is an absolute monster – and by the way the Democrats know about it 100 percent … how bad it is – or don’t we get rid of it?”

Trump, who is again mulling the possibility of running for president in 2016, says he is not so sure that former First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is a Democratic shoo-in if she decides to run.

“I know Hillary very well and I know Bill [Clinton] very well. I have a theory that it’s never going to be so easy. I’ve seen a lot of coronations take place that haven’t taken place,” he said.

“Actually, Hillary was going to get [the nomination] the last time and there was nobody in her way and [Barack] Obama came along and Obama snatched [the nomination]. So a lot of early coronations don’t mean a lot.”

Trump said if he does run, “I would spend whatever I thought it was necessary. The Republicans have to win … We have to turn this country around.”
