tsaThe Transportation Security Administration is expanding its screening of passengers before they arrive at the airport by searching a wide array of government and private databases that can include records like car registrations and employment information.

While the agency says that the goal is to streamline the security procedures for millions of passengers who pose no risk, the new measures give the government greater authority to use travelers’ data for domestic airport screenings. Previously that level of scrutiny applied only to individuals entering the United States. Read more at the New York Times.

  1. Why do I have the feeling that the TSA is not regulated adequately at all and the airport employees, and of course probably the higher ups, have little or no scruples – to say the least?

    The blasted thing is a disgusting monster that needs serious oversight by ostensibly, at least, responsible sources. The people involved now do not care about “security” nearly as much as their egos and so on. They seem to enjoy the way they can and do take advantage of the public.

  2. The terrorists have WON! They have succeeded in discomforting all Americans while they laugh at us! 9/11 was a major victory for them!
