tsarnaevBoston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s lawyers petitioned a federal judge Wednesday to have his trial moved to Washington, D.C., claiming a survey shows “an overwhelming presumption of guilt in the District of Massachusetts” as well as a preference for the death penalty.

The lawyers also say that a survey conducted in May showed that large numbers of people in the potential jury pool participated in the 2013 Boston Marathon or know somebody who did. Timothy McVeigh, who was behind the Oklahoma City bombing, had his trial moved to Colorado.

While a majority of respondents in New York and Massachusetts thought Tsarnaev was guilty, only 37 percent of respondents in D.C. held a presumption of guilt. Read more at the Boston Globe.
