Due to protests of Yerushalayim’s German Colony neighborhood against having a light railway down their main street, the city is considering constructing a tunnel instead at triple the price, Haaretz reported.

Besides raising the project’s cost from $37,000 to $140,000, the tunnel would damage two local parks and delay completion of the project by three years.

The light railway, which already gets people to their destinations slower than the buses it replaced, is to operate on three lines extending to all ends of the city.

  1. “Raising the project’s cost from $37,000 to $140,000” –Are you guys total idiots? Do you even bother to proofread? What is the source of the article? I can’t even begin to understand what the numbers represent.

And you wrote, “The light railway, which already gets people to their destinations slower than the buses.” What facts do you have to support this claim? I ride the light rail, and I find it much faster to get from the CBS to City Hall, than to ride the bus.

If you want to be respected as a news source (maybe you don’t), try to be journalists.

  2. In a Divine way the rail is a blessing. Even though it’s slow and causes more traffic but it causes many streets to be closed on shabbos. So its better they build above ground. Once we chareidim take over we can dismantle this slow moving rail that causes extra traffic. Until then keep expanding this rail above ground.
