Twitter’s little blue bird is spreading its wings. The microblogging company reportedly reached a deal to include the 140-character tweets in Google search results, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
The deal means Google will have automatic access to Twitter’s stream of data, which it previously had to crawl for information. The move is part of a larger effort to attract more people to Twitter as growth slows among its 284 million users.
Earlier this week, Twitter announced deals to show advertising in Flipboard’s mobile application as well as Yahoo Japan Corp. Engineers from both Twitter and Google are already working on the new plan, according to sources. Read more at Bloomberg.
