Tragic: Two IDF Soldiers, Including Lone Soldier from NJ, Killed in Grenade Explosion

In a tragic accident, two Israeli soldiers were killed this morning when a grenade exploded in a military vehicle near Har Chermon.

One soldier was injured seriously. Two were hurt moderately.

The circumstances of the incident are being examined.

Update: This incident, first reported by Matzav.com early this morning, has been cleared for publication.

The two soldiers killed in the incident are Sgt. Shlomo Rindenow, 20, from Sde Yoav and Staff Sgt. Husam Tapash, 24, from Beit Jann.

Tapesh is from the Druze village of Beit Jann.

Shlomo, a dual Israeli-US citizen, is a son of Rabbi Dr. Mordechai Rindenow of the Passaic Torah Institute in New Jersey, a professor at Baruch College in New York City.

A third soldier was seriously injured, suffering shrapnel wounds. He was taken to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

Two others were lightly wounded.

The soldiers’ jeep stopped near the lower Har Chevron checkpoint. The driver then walked out of the jeep holding the grenade that exploded.

The IDF is investigating the incident.
