Young Girl Seriously Burnt In West Bank Terror Attack

ayala-shapiroThe IDF said that two Israelis were injured today after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at their car by a Palestinian as it drove in the Jewish community of Maale Shomron.

The IDF said in a statement that an 11-year-old girl was severely burned and her father injured after the Molotov cocktail hit the vehicle they were driving in.

The two were later evacuated to the hospital for treatment, according to a statement, and the IDF said they were searching the area for suspects.

The girl is in serious condition after suffering massive third degree burns after flames engulfed the car

The girl and father have been named as Ayala (11) and Avner (40) Shapira from the settlment of El Matan. Ayala’s mother’s car was hit by a firebomb last month, but managed to escape unscathed.

Professor Zeev Rotstein, director of the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, commented on the condition of the

young girl and her father, adding that doctors are currently fighting for her life.

“The father was lightly wounded and is suffering from superficial burns. His daughter was seriously wounded with burns to her upper torso, head, arms and legs. We will do everything we can to save her life.”

Maale Shomron is a Jewish settlement located next to the Palestinian village of Azun, east of Qalqiliya.
