Two Jews Nearly Lynched in Yerushalayim

arab-rocksTwo civilian employees of the Defense Ministry are recovering from a near lynch attempt on Monday.

The two were traveling to Mount Scopus in Yerushalayim when they accidentally made a wrong turn and ended up stuck in a traffic jam between two Arab cars. A crowd of Arab youths then showed up and began throwing rocks at them.

At one point the rock throwers, some of whom were students from a nearby school, approached the vehicle and slammed a large stone into the windshield. The rock struck the driver, Yehuda Attias, in the head. Attias, who was all bloody, hit the gas and the two Israelis then fled toward a nearby hotel. They called security and rescue forces and were taken to the hospital. Attias was since hospitalized several times because of the severe head injuries.

Eliezer Hakshur, Attias’ brother-in-law, told Arutz Sheva that it was a miracle that Attias survived the lynching attempt.

“He is suffering from headaches and has twice been hospitalized with vomiting and chills,” Hakshur said, adding the rock throwers were “probably a group of children from the nearby Arab school who realized the two were stuck, and called their friends who began to throw rocks at them. They smashed the car’s windshield and my brother-in-law’s head. He had deep cuts and his head is full of stitches.”

He added that the whole incident could have ended much differently. “It was a miracle, we have no other words to describe it. Yehuda, whose head was bleeding, fled at the last minute. Only when they came into the hotel did the security and rescue forces arrive.”

In recent months, Arabs have attacked Jewish motorists with rocks, in what is starting to again become a common phenomenon on the roads of Judea and Samaria, as it was in the days of the 2002 Second Intifada.

Rock attacks can be deadly, as they are indeed intended to be, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash the car. That is precisely how two Jewish residents of the Judean city of Kiryat Arba — Asher Palmer and his baby son Yonatan — lost their lives last September.

  1. Matzav please report the truth. These two Jews were in an Arab neighborhood that they knew was not the place for them to be. It does not make them innocent that they made the wrong turn!

  2. To USA:

So if someone goes to an Arab neighborhood he deserves to be lynched??? Where is your logic and common sense? If you want to post your liberal, self-hating-Jew comments go post it at those left websites.

  3. #4, comment USA: If someone makes a wrong turn, why is that not innocent? What kind of thinking is that? Where’s your sechel? We all make mistakes. Does it not prove the point that they were ready to do the worst just because someone drove into their neighborhood? Makes the wild West look tame. Mach shalom mit zei! Ochenvey!

  4. #4 even IF they went there intentionally that means its ok for those monsters to throw rocks on them? I live in Jerusalem and see arabs comimg into our neighborhoods all the time and have never heard or a jew throwing rocks at them. How can you justify this violence?

  5. You’re kidding, I’m sure. ‘An arab neighborhood they knew it was not the place for them to be?’ Really? So whole sections of israel itself are judenrein? Really? Do you believe that? And arabs can live and walk safely in every jewish neighborhood? Jews should just expect to get rocks thrown at them as a matter of course because they find themselves in an arab neighhorhood? You are absolutely insane. Time for israelis to take back their country. I would make life so miserable for arabs they would set rewcords for making yerida. Sounds like israelis have morphed into good old fashioned shtetle jews to me.

  6. BS”D

This is insane! Where is justice? If Jews had dared to lynch an arab, even throw a rock at him, the whole world would be in an uproar. The arabs would be carrying out terrorist attacks (chas vesholom) in revenge.

When will the arabs be stopped?
When will we stop being used as punching bags for the arabs?

  7. #4 (who writes from USA- what about moving to Muslim “gan eden” countries? Or Palestinian Authority?) has a point. In the jungle or the cage of lions, we can not expect anything different. These animals are not humans, to them human life is worthless, they are prepared to butcher innocent passers-by – or sleeping babies – for no reason but they’d like a flag of a different colour. May Amalek be wiped out.
