Two Manhattan shuls have been included amongst the “Sacred Sites” in New York State that will be given grants from the New York Landmarks Conservancy for physical repairs.
The Jewish Week reports that the Stanton Street Shul on the Lower East Side will get a $30,000 Jewish Heritage Fund Grant to help fund repairs on the exterior walls of the building. The Sixth Street Community Synagogue in East Village will receive a grant of $25,000, which will be utilized to fix the building’s roof and make other improvements.
