Two Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured by Israeli live fire, the health ministry said early Friday evening, as a new round of protests and clashes broke out in the Gaza Strip amid increasingly sensitive times.

The health ministry said 12-year-old Palestinian Mahdi Ramzi Kamal was killed near Rafah Friday evening, a couple hours after announcing the death of a 43 man, who was shot in the head near the border fence, east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it responded with live fire and riot dispersal methods to some 7,000 Palestinians that congregated in several locations — engaging in violent riots, including throwing stones, tossing tear gas canisters, tires, and makeshift explosive devices. Nearly two hundred more Palestinians were injured, seventy of them from live bullets.
