Tzefas Councilwoman Alkabetz Fighting New Shul

Tzefas councilwoman Vicky Alkabetz of the Labor party is fighting against the construction of a new shul despite its approval by all relevant municipal and regional agencies.

Claiming that her motivations are not anti-religious, Alkabetz said that her opposition stems from other factors. They include blind people using a neighboring community center whose access will be blocked by the new building and environmentalists who complain that a stand of old trees is to be cut down to make room for an access path.

Councilman Nachman Galbach of Agudas Yisroel said that only three people submitted complaints and withdrew them after he explained the importance of the new building.
