Air Force Gen. John Hyten, the commander of U.S. Strategic Command, said on Saturday that he would resist an “illegal” order from President Trump to launch a nuclear attack.

“I provide advice to the president, he will tell me what to do. And if it’s illegal, guess what’s going to happen? I’m going to say, ‘Mr. President, that’s illegal,’” Hyten, who oversees the nuclear arsenal, said at the Halifax International Security Forum. “And guess what he’s going to do? He’s going to say, ‘What would be legal?’ And we’ll come up with options, with a mix of capabilities to respond to whatever the situation is, and that’s the way it works. It’s not that complicated.”

Hyten added that he would go to jail if he carried out an “unlawful order.” Read more at CBS NEWS.

  1. Even the generals fear Trump experienced futures. We are in a mad house waiting for just the cuckoo to fail or fly back safely to its next. Trump is one over.

  2. But he would have no problem leaving nukes in the hands of Hillary – the one who murders all her associates and witnesses.

If any President in the last 100 years is stable, very stable, it’s President Trump. He’s the only President who’s not a politician and really cares about the American people. Pretty scary to think that nukes were left in the hands of Obama, Bush and Clinton.

    • Give hide and scout easy mood. Hillary actually loved her fellow-patriot. Her goal was democracy. Trump eats with dictators. He governs none.

This begging he does on twitter is shameful. Even the pearls are visited never his gain. A lost actor playing a role he has no mind. Very unorthodox.

  3. Nobody is asking Hyten to do any illegal strikes; why is he whining about it? Obviously, this is an attempt to discredit a democratically elected President. Trump should have fired any Obama-Clinton holdovers. Since he failed to clean up the political appointees upon becoming a President, Trump has nobody to blame but himself for the sabotage committed by the deep state burecrats.

  4. The headline is very misleading, unless there’s a quote missing. All he says is that he’s an advisor, he gives the President advice, and if the Pres. suggested doing something that might seem logical but is actually illegal, he’ll say, “Sorry, that’s not legal,” and they’ll think of an alternative. “Sorry, sir, that’s not legal” is not the same as “No, no, no, I’ll never do that, and you can’t make me!”
Did CBS get this story from the Washington Post, or make it up all by themselves?
