U.S. to Require Family or Business Ties for Travel-Ban Countries

The Trump administration is requiring that individuals traveling to the U.S. from six majority-Muslim countries have close family or business ties before entry, according to a State Department cable obtained by the Associated Press. According to the new guidelines, “close” family relationships include “a parent, spouse, child, adult son or daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, or sibling,” the AP reports.

The guidelines are intended to define the “bona fide relationship” the Supreme Court said travelers from those countries would need in its ruling Monday allowing parts of President Trump’s travel ban, which had been stayed by several lower court rulings, to move forward. Read more.
