isis iraq attackOfficials say the United States and Turkey have come up with a plan to expell ISIS militants from a 60-mile stretch along the Syrian-Turkish border. The resulting area would be an ISIS “safe zone” run by what The New York Times calls “relatively moderate Syrian insurgents,” and a refuge for displaced Syrians fleeing the terrorist group.

U.S. warplanes and Turkish troops would help clear the ground and create a no-fly zone.

Turkish outlets say the zone might go as far as 25 miles into Syria, but the Times reports that only 60 rebels are available to take the ground. Read more at The New York Times.
