The following is an email received by Matzav.com in response to an article last week alerting UGG customers that some of UGG’s products have been found to contain shatnez:

Hi, I represent UGG and caught your recent article on the materials used in their footwear. http://matzav.com/shatnez-alert-ugg-shoes-found-to-have-linen-fabric-under-the-wool/ Please see the below response from the company. Would you be able to update your story accordingly?

“We have been contacted by numerous members of the Jewish community following the release of erroneous information that our products contain both wool and linen. Please be assured that none of our current UGG® footwear products contain both wool and linen. Thank you. “

It should be noted that while the company states explicitly that their products do not contain both wool and linen, testing by Shatnez Laboratories have uncovered some shatnez UGG footwear. It is possible that the company’s assurance is only on their most current line of footwear.

Until further clarification, poskim are recommending that people refrain from wearing UGG products.

  1. Okay, so that settles that.
Now that it’s a month since the freezer has been opened, let’s get back to the dreaded shidduch crisis.

    • Dear brain hoax, learn arithmetic before you opine. If you create artificial conditions where there are 115 girls for every 100 boys at the shiduch market, then guess what: 15 girls would be left over – no matter how much you mention bitochon, and no matter how many friends you happen to have who got married.

  2. Ok, this only thickens the plot!
I have seen a copy of an email from UGGs stating that ALL their products DO contain linen!

I have also seen statement from Shatnez testing saying that they have tested many UGGs and that some do contain shatnez but many dont.

As with all clothing – when it contains either wool or linen, get it tested.

  3. “It is possible that the company’s assurance is only on their most current line of footwear.”

Actually this is EXACTLY what the statement says. “Please be assured that none of our current UGG® footwear products contain both wool and linen. Thank you.“

  4. …and the vaccine manufacturers continue to claim that their products are safe although indipendent testing proves otherwise.
However it that case the poskim say to continue vaccinating…
    strange…

  5. I being a shatnez tester for over 50 years and other expert shatnez testers from the International shatnez testers, Organization have confirmed that some of the UGG item indeed do contain Shatnez contrary to UGG’s assurances.

The Rabbonim have ruled that may only wear it after being tested by a qualified shatnez lab and found to be shatnez free.

All other information is not reliable at this point
