The British government reportedly gave £20 million to Palestinian schools teaching a curriculum that purports jihadic allegiance, encourages pupils to become martyrs, espouses distrust of the West and demonizes the State of Israel, according to a watchdog briefing published by the UK’s Sunday Times.
The Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-se) found in its review that teaching material used in the Palestinian Authority textbooks “exerts pressure over young Palestinians to acts of violence.”
Lessons being taught for those aged between 9 and 12 years portrayed in a positive light and “the rewards of paradise are clearly elucidated, including a plethora of brides.” For example, a maths textbook asks students to tally up the number of martyrs at a Palestinian uprising. Whilst a physics textbook teaches students to hurl rocks at Israeli soldiers. One question reads: “Palestinian youths used slingshots to confront the soldiers of the Zionist occupation and defend themselves from their treacherous bullets. What is the relationship between the elongation of the slingshot’s rubber and the tensile strength affecting it?”
