Jeremy Corbyn, the British Labour party leader and a contender for U.K. prime minister, described the Palestinian terror group Hamas as “serious and hardworking,” while calling for European trade agreements with Israel to be suspended, in a newly resurfaced 2010 radio interview.

The subject of Corbyn’s past comments on Hamas and Israel re-emerged following recent allegations that he attended a 2014 wreath-laying ceremony at the gravesite of Palestinian terrorist Atef Bseiso, who was one of several terrorists responsible for the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre that killed 11 Israeli Olympic team members.

Corbyn, through his spokesman, denied the allegations of his visit to the gravesite.

“Jeremy Corbyn condemns the Munich massacre and its perpetrators, and that what he was attending was not anything to do with perpetrator Atef Bseiso, but an event to commemorate the 1985 bombing of the PLO headquarters,” his spokesman told Jonathan Arkush, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, May 29.

Corbyn has also previously referred to Hamas and Hezbollah as “friends,” and has voiced support for the Palestinian Authority while repeatedly criticizing the Israeli government.
