uman[Video below.] Nearly 24,000 Yidden, most of them from Israel, made the annual visit to the kever of Rav Nachman of Breslov in central Ukraine. “This year, 23,627 people arrived, including about 21,400 from Israel and more than 1,200 from the United States,” Uman townhall official Janna Lozynska said. “The number of pilgrims rises every year. In 2009, they were 18,805,” she added.

Hundreds of men davened and danced in the Uman neighbourhoods close to kever of Rav Nachman.

“Celebrations are going on normally, no one is complaining, neither the pilgrims nor the locals,” said Petro Payevsky, deputy mayor of this city about 200 kilometres (125 miles) south of the capital Kiev.

Rav Nachman, who passed away in 1810, promised he would be a meilitz yosher for those who come to his kever on Rosh Hashanah.

  1. Whats wrong with these people ? Why cant they spend Yom Tov with their families ? Whats with the dancing in the streets? Is it Simchas Torah, where they feel the urge to burst into song and dance on the day that Hashem is judging the world?

  2. I AGREE WITH ELI, AREN’T THEY ASHAMED AT THEMSELVES?????????? LOOK HOW INSANE THEY LOOK I DON’T THINK THIS IS WHAT R’NACHMAN MEANT WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD BE MEILITZ YOSHER FOR THOSE WHO COME TO HIS KEVER ON ROSH HASHANAH!!

  3. I have never been to Uman. I will never go to Uman and leave my family alone on Yomtov. I do however love all the people that go to Uman. I am obligated to.

  4. most of them are normal erliche yidin and just have exemplary emunas tzadikim . its the nutcases who are high that stand out and grab interest that are in the clips .

  5. THE INVENTION OF THE INTERNET HAS HABITUATED PEOPLE TO PUT DOWN OTHERS WITHOUT A MOMENT’S HESITATION.IT’S NOT OK. THERE ARE MANY TYPES OF AVODAS HASHEM,AND MANY WAYS TO INTERPRET EXACTLY WHAT A DECEASED TZADIK MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE MEANT.I’M NOT BRESLOV,BUT I GET NOTHING OUT OF BASHING THEM.

  6. I was told my a holocaust survivor that Uman used to be horribly anti-semitic and that during the war, they were worse than the Germans. How can Israelis spend so much money in a country that 70 years earlier killed their brothers and sisters. Either way, I agree with earlier posts that these people should be with their families and should rember that Rosh Hashana is yom ha’din.
Also, are these people saying that it’s better to spend yontif in Uman than in Eretz Yisroel, chas v’shalom, is there more kedusha in Uman?

  7. # 2 -most of the people u see dancing are new baali teshuvas if even that. They need to see the joy in yiddishkeit. Uman is an incredible spiritual experience for them. They didnt grow up in Lakewood. Be very careful when judging. Besides did u not notice the people who were davening?

  8. I just wanna say that i think it is so wrong the way people are so judgmental and close minded to other jews. im really shocked. I think everyone needs to just focus on their own growth and teshuva. If you dont get inspired by this , fine. But to so many people this is what makes them feel the closest to Hashem. If youve never been then you for sure have no right to bad mouth this. And its very hard for alot of these people to not be with their families. Thia is how they daven best and feel connected, which is exactly how everyone should try to feel on RH. Im really surprised the way people view this. And most ppl that go are not baal teshuva,.. MAny are but their is literally every single type of person there.
