united-nations-security-councilThe UN General Assembly approved a resolution Monday by a vote of 174-6 with 6 abstentions, calling on Israel to join the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty “without further delay” and open its nuclear facilities to inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Israel has long said there first must be a Mideast peace agreement. Resolutions adopted by the General Assembly are not legally binding.

  1. The pressure begins. Bibi should have skipped the machismo routine. Instead of withholding payments to the PA and proclaiming he’ll build settlement housing in spite of international criticism, he should have used some good old Jewish smarts and done some real diplomacy. We’re not supposed to provoke the “nations of the world.” Remember the parsha we just read? Besides, it doesn’t even work. Now the next time we ask for inspections in Iran, they’ll have the perfect comeback.
