A new report from the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) announced today that the world has taken so long to act on global warming that we have just 15 years to make a massive effort before slowing climate change becomes impossibly costly.
The report said it remains technically possible to slow warming, but that even European countries that have made efforts haven’t done nearly enough. The findings will likely put even more pressure on a major global treaty expected to be completed in 2015 and to take effect in 2020.
On the bright said, researches said the cost of alternative energies is falling so rapidly that implementing them on a mass scale is now practical. Read more at The New York Times.
