United Nations experts said Tuesday there are between 2,000 and 3,000 ISIS militants in Libya, where the terror group is aiming to gain control of more territory.
In a newly released report, experts monitoring UN sanctions against al Qaeda and other groups warned ISIS poses “an evident short- and long-term threat in Libya” and that the group’s central command sees the North African nation as “as the ‘best’ opportunity to expand its so-called caliphate” from Syria and Iraq.
However, experts said the group faces challenges from the population as well as maintaining alliances with other warring factions vying for power. Read more.
