gaza-aidIsrael allowed the resumption of humanitarian aid and basic goods transfer to the Gaza Strip on Sunday, through the sole cargo terminal at the Kerem Shalom crossing on the Israel-Gaza border.

In response to the move, the Legal Forum for the Land of Israel, a right-wing advocacy group, submitted an emergency claim to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and IDF Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Maj. Gen. Eitan Dangot to immediately halt the flow of supplies to the Gaza Strip.

The forum’s attorney, Avi Har Zahav, wrote in the claim that “the security of Israeli citizens is more important than any humanitarian consideration. It is obvious to everyone that food and medical supplies won’t be used just for the civilian population in Gaza because, first and foremost, it will go to the heads of Hamas.”

The border crossing was opened on Sunday based on Israeli efforts to ensure the entry of essential goods and equipment to Gaza residents. Eighty trucks with medical supplies, food, household gas and basic necessities passed through the crossing, according to army officials.

In addition, 35 diplomatic representatives and international aid workers crossed the border. Twenty-six patients and their escorts also entered Israel from Gaza for medical treatment.

  1. What lunacy. Did the Allies send humanitarian aid to the Nazis and Japanese? No…because they understood that they were at WAR. Light unto the Nations includes teaching them how to defend their citizens!

  2. And cutting off food and medicine to hungry children and old people would of course make the people hate Hamas even more? Lousy psychology here. They would just blame Israel even more. Anyway, we invented humanitarianism. We should just junk all our thousands-of-years-old values because some right-wing extremists in our own camp think crude nationalism is going to solve our problems? We can’t even cut down the fruit trees around a city we’re besieging, and we’re going to let innocent children die? If our children are innocent, so are theirs. Rocket the leaders – they deserve it – but don’t descend to the levels that we claim we despise.

  3. Sending supplies to Gaza is exactly like treating a cancerous growth with chemotherapy and radiation and in the same time feeding it back with cancerous cells… It is a bitter jock, insanity in its best.
Everybody there in Gaza hates us. They are taking full advantage of the Israeli government’s naivety. The war is never going to end like that and it costs us casualties – not to mention the enormous property damage and the huge loss of working days. Chayecha kodmim – you life comes first. With all the thoughts, planning, tremendous resources and astonishing expenses – and of cause the life risking – everything is going to go in vane. The leaders there are full of arrogance. They think they can do everything without the help of H’. What a shame. How many are suffering because of that. “Hashiva Shofteinu Kevarishona.” As speedily as possible
