daniel-shapiro-ambassador-to-israelThe United States’ Ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro, has emphatically rejected the authenticity of an audio tape released Tuesday night, said to be a leaked recording of a conversation between Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Barack Obama, in which the US President reportedly sought to aggressively push an unfavorable ceasefire on Israel, according to Arutz Sheva.

“Have seen reports of an alleged Obama-Netanyahu transcript; neither reports nor alleged transcript bear any resemblance to reality,” Ambassador Shapiro posted on his official Twitter account. “Shocking and disappointing someone would sink to misrepresenting a private convo between POTUS and PM in fabrications to Israeli press,” he added .

The president’s own National Security Council also took to Twitter to dismiss the tape with a near-identical post. In the last few minutes, the Israeli Prime Minister’s official account has posted, verbatim, the exact same tweet, denying the conversation ever took place.

Arutz Sheva added that a reporter for Israel’s Channel One claimed a “senior US official” leakedthe 35-minute recording to him, which he said took place during a conversation between the two on Sunday.

A partial transcript of the recording can be viewed here.

  1. Of course they will say its fabricated or reject the authenticity of the audio tape. They should prove that the audio tape is real, just to show the real face of Obama’s anti-Israel stance.

  2. Where there’s smoke there’s fire.
After listening to Kerry’s cease fire proposal over the weekend. I am certain the tape is authentic. Kerry would not make such a proposal without Obama’s backing. The tape basically says what Kerry said.

  3. Very interesting that the OPM sreleased a statement that quotes the American statement VERBATIM. That seems to be a not-too-subtle hint that the Israeli statement of denial is not being given of its own accord, but that the PM is forced to mimic the Americans in giving this statement, and that anyone who knows how to read between the lines should understand that the leaked transcript IS accurate!

  4. Although the transcript is likely a fabrication, ironically, their private conversations are likely very similar to the alleged transcript.

  5. Shapiro should go back to the family business of winemaking. He already has experience at foggy bottom in cutting the heavy fog it produces

  6. The “transcript” is clearly a hoax. Its stilted English is not how two native English speakers would speak to each other. I would not be surprised to find that the ultimate “source” is Hamas trying to divide Israel from the US.

  7. A short while back Obama said that he would like Israel to go back to its pre 67′ borders. Now what’s so hard to understand and beleive about what Obama is saying now?
    His agenda has not changed.
