US Ambassador to Israel Meets With Rav Elyashiv
US Ambassador to Israel James B. Cunningham paid a visit, along with Alex Daniels director of the American Cultural Center, and an entourage, to the home of Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv shlit”a following a request by the Ambassador to hear Rav Elyashiv’’s remarks on the state of Israel and the needs of the chareidi community. Rav Yosef Efrati, Rav Elyashiv’s close confidante, was also on hand for the visit. The meeting was held eight months after Cunningham assumed his post. At the start of the visit, the Ambassador told Rav Elyashiv via Yerushalayim Deputy Mayor Yitzchok Pindrus, serving as interpreter, that he had come to get to know the chareidi community and learn about its needs. In response, Rav Elyashiv said, “Merubim tzorchei amcho” (i.e. “Your nation’s needs are numerous,” paraphrasing the Gemara in Brachos 29b).
The Ambassador then asked for any advice Rav Elyashiv might offer to help him carry out his many responsibilities. Rav Elyashiv replied that if he strives to do good and work for the sake of the Jewish people he would succeed, adding that everything depends on good will.
When Cunningham asked which matters need to be addressed, Rav Eliashiv noted the state of security is cause for deep concern, saying the residents of Eretz Hakodesh are in constant danger.
The Ambassador replied that the issue of security is of concern to President Obama as well, saying Israel’s security is among the President’s top priorities.
When asked for a bracha at the end of the visit, Rav Elyashiv bentched him for success in his post and that he have the merit to act for the sake of the residents of Eretz Hakodesh.
The visit was coordinated through the efforts of Reb Mattisyahu Cheshin, who works extensively to promote Jewish affairs through the US Embassy in Israel.

President Obama, other world leaders and people of this world! How long do you think G_D will continue the world to continue on the course we’re on?
I CHALLENGE ALL WORLD LEADERS (GOVERNMENT) AND PEOPLE OF THE WORLD TO GIVE THEIR CONTRIBUTION TOWARD PROVIDING “A RESTING PLACE FOR G_D’S PRESENCE” !
Thus saith the Lord…“They shall make a Sanctuary for Me - So that I may dwell among them”.
IT IS MOST BLESSED TO KNOW THAT IN THE VERY FIRST ACT OF A CONSECRATED LIFE, WE ARE NOT ALONE, BUT HE HIMSELF BECOMES OUR CONSECRATION, AS HE WILL AFTERWARDS BECOME OUR OBEDIENCE, AND OUR STRENGTH STEP BY STEP TO THE END. hAVING THUS SURRENDERED OURSELVES TO HIM FOR HIS SANCTIFYING GRACE, WE MUST NEXT ACCEPT HIM IN HIS FULLNESS THAT HE DOES BECOME TO US HENCEFORTH ALL THAT WE TAKE HIM FOR, AND THAT WE ARE NOW OWNED, ACCEPTED, POSSESSED, CLEANSED AND SANCTIFIED BY HIS INDWELLING, AND THAT HE IS SAYING TO US, AND RECORDING OUR GLAD AMEN,,,,
AT THIS POINT GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE ARE COMPELLED TO FACE A VERY SOLEMN CRISIS; EITHER WE MUST ACCEPT THE WORD OF G_D LITERALLY AND IMPLICITLY WHILE WORKING ATTEMPTING TO HAVE A BETTER LIFE THROUGH AN AWAKENED HEART…
2009 G-20 SUMMIT should be about providing a resting place for G_D’S PRESENCE, NOT THE ECONOMY OF MAN!

I pray that G_D intervenes righting the many wrongs that we have committed against each other! To all my Israeli and Palestinian brothers and sisters, if I have said anything which has offended thee, please forgive me.
G_D incline our hearts, the heart of your seed, to love you with all our hearts and souls, that we may live in peace with one another!
Rav Elyashiv, please forgive me! As we all are inscribed in the Book of Life!

I don’t find it surprising that Rav Elyashiv would not mention the cause of contention in Israel. He only wished for the security of Jews in Eretz Hakodesh! What about the security of the palestinians? President Obama does’nt seem to understand the ramifications by appointing as ambassador. It will only fuel the conflict (in the eyes of Palestinians)!
