benghaziU.S. Special Operations forces have captured one of the suspected ringleaders of the September 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Ahmed Abu Khattala was captured near Benghazi in a secret raid in Libya last weekend with the help of the FBI. He is in U.S. custody “in a secure location outside Libya,” officials said.

Last year, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia charged Khattala and at least a dozen other suspects in connection with the Benghazi attacks, but he is the only one who has been caught so far. An official speaking on the condition of anonymity said he is “en route” to the U.S. to face a civilian trial.

When asked if Libya was involved with or approved of the raid, a U.S. official said, “I am not going to get into the specifics of our diplomatic discussions, but to be clear: This was a unilateral U.S. operation.”

In December, The Washington Post reported U.S. efforts to capture Khattala had stalled and, according to one official, he was living “free as a bird.” Read more at The Washington Post.

  1. I’m confused! Perhaps Charlie Hall can help me!
Wasn’t the attack justified because of some film? I know that guy is said to still be in jail for producing it!
Help, Charlie!!! I don’t get it! What did he do wrong? He was just venting! Even David Dinkins understood that!

  2. Ringleader????

Didn’t the Obama Government tell us (lie to us)time and again that it was an obscure anti-Islam video that caused the “spontaneous” attack on the Embassy?

You can be sure this arrest was made for political reasons by the Obama Government as this guy has been on the lam for nearly three years.

  3. But I thought the murder happened because of an anti Muslim film? He was rightfully upset and it was appropriate to vent. Why would they arrest this innocent man?
