U.S. Condemns Snowden Asylum

putinPresident Obama may have to cancel his plans to hang out with Russian President Vladimir Putin this fall. After Russia granted National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden asylum, the U.S. has been harshly condemning the country, saying the move could threaten relations.

“We are extremely disappointed that the Russian government would take this step,” said White House spokesman Jay Carney, adding that they “are evaluating the utility of a summit” this fall.

Russia had demanded that Snowden cease all political activities if he stays, but U.S. officials worry he could begin leaking classified information directly to Russia. Read more at The Wall Street Journal.
