al-qaeda-operative-abu-anas-al-libyAlleged al Qaeda operative Abu Anas al Liby, who was snatched outside his Tripoli home by US commandos in October 2013, died Friday night in a New York hospital of complications from a Hepatitis C infection he contracted while imprisoned in Iran.

Al-Liby-his real name is Nazih Abdul Hamed al Ruqai-was accused of playing a role in the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania that killed 224.

His family insists he was innocent and that he split from al Qaeda years before the bombings took place. They blame the US for his death but medical experts say being able to take advantage of US health care probably prolonged his life. He was 50 years old. Read more at CNN.
