U.S.: Iraq Wrong About ISIS Bombing NYC

subway-nycIraq’s prime minister made the scary announcement Thursday that ISIS is planning an imminent attack on New York’s subway system, but U.S. officials have no idea what he’s talking about.

“I’m receiving accurate reports from Baghdad that there were arrests of a few elements and there were networks from inside Iraq to have attacks… on metros of Paris and U.S.,” Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said in English at the United Nations in New York.

The FBI and NYPD both reportedly checked into the claim and found nothing to support it. The greater worry from U.S. intelligence has come from al Qaeda offshoot, the Khorasan Group.

Eli Lake reports the group “went dark” this summer while planning an attack, likely with explosives against U.S. and European airliners. On Monday, the U.S. bombed both the Khorasan Group and ISIS in Syria. Read more at NBC News.
