Some key members of the Senate and House are calling for the United States to send more arms to Ukraine to fight Russian “aggression.” Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez said on CNN that Ukraine should be provided weapons “that will impose a cost upon Putin” and Sen. John McCain told CBS’s ‘Face the Nation’ that Ukrainians should be given “the ability to fight.”
Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, also weighed in on Fox, saying the situation could get “very ugly later.” Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged consideration of a separate state in eastern Ukraine, while Western powers are considering tougher sanctions against Russia for its incursion into its smaller and weaker neighbor.
