The Department of Homeland Security is not raising the U.S. terror alert level in light of the terrorist attack on the offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris. At least not yet.

A DHS official says that the department “is closely monitoring the unfolding events in Paris and we remain in contact with our counterparts in the region. DHS will not hesitate to adjust our security posture, as appropriate, to protect the American people.”

President Obama earlier called the assault a “terrorist attack” and directed his administration to provide any assistance requested by the French. But he made no mention of a specific culprit or any threats to the United States.
