In response to the development regarding the Montreal “Y” administration reaching a decision of compromise regarding its opening on Shabbos Kodesh (reported here), the Vaad Harabbonim of Montreal have released the following statement:
In light of reports that the “Y” administration has eeached a decision of compromise, and is to break with a millennium of tradition by opening some areas of the “y” on Shabbos:
We strongly declare that Shabbos is not open to compromise. The Master of the Universe instructed us to protect and safeguard the holiest of days, and neither we nor any other human being has the power to compromise.
