[Video below.] Last night, among the many parades, fireworks, picnics, concerts and other patriotic events in New Jersey to celebrate Independence Day was a fireworks display in Lakewood at Lake Carasaljo. The Lakewood Municipal Band and Chorus, conducted by Wilbur Wittemann, started the early Independence Day celebration at 8 p.m. at the Amphitheater near Lake Carasaljo. A fireworks display followed at about 9:30 p.m. The fireworks could be viewed from North or South Lake Drive and even further away. Residents all the way up Forest Avenue and down River Avenue stopped what they were doing and looked up at the sky to watch the beautiful display of tantalizing fireworks. In the immediate vicinity of the Amphitheater, across from Laurel in the Pines, police were on hand to direct traffic and cordon off certain streets. A number of local officials, including Lakewood Mayor Bob Singer, were on hand to celebrate America’s independence. Because July 4 this year falls on a weekend, the annual fireworks display was held last night instead of on the “bo bayom.”

Fireworks are a long tradition of July 4th celebrations. As long as we live in this country, patriotism is a part of life.
Very nice display. I passed it on the way to the Tropper/Krieser wedding (in Bais Yackov), last night
THIS IS WHAT WE SPEND OUR MONEY ON WHEN TAXES ARE BEING RAISED
GLAT, there are other citizens of Lakewood besides you who enjoy this display of Americanism.
