agudah-gillibrand[Video below.] With the midterm elections just over a week away, a delegation of Agudath Israel met today with US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. In her two years in office, Senator Gillibrand has shown herself to be a good friend of the Jewish community.

The leaders commended her on her staunch support for Israel and spent most of the meeting discussing domestic concerns. Agudah Executive Vice President Rabbi Chaim Dovid Zwiebel who is a trained attorney gave the senator ( who is also an attorney) an overview of the of the federal and constitutional issues facing the orthodox community. These include right relating to religious accommodation in employment, zoning and other areas. Senator Gillibran pledged to work closely and to be a strong supporter of rights for Orthodox jews in the Senate. (The meeting took place at Office of Shlomo Werdiger – Outerstuff LTD.)

The meeting comes days before Agudath Israel is scheduled to have their Inaugural legislative Breakfast which will feature dozens of elected officials as well as community leaders coming together. The breakfast will take place this Sunday October 31st at the Broad Street ballroom in NYC.

  1. They should reschedule a meeting with her at Walmart when she loses asking about her working conditions stocking the shelves. Is a loss for her likely? Perhaps not but we can still pray.

  2. I’m amazed at the energy and time that is spent by these activists. Day after day we see a virtuol whose who on government meeting with aguda.
I’m not a chossid of aguda but even the greatest critics have to acknowledge their efforts.
    Kol hakovod.

  3. If they already met the candidate who needs our votes, why didn’t the Agguda also ask the senator to intervene on behalf of Pollard? Why is Pollard always left out of these discussions?
