Video: Lakewood Declares State of Emergency: Emergency Vehicles Only


snow-Lakewood[Video below.] Lakewood – Blizzard conditions this evening has prompted Mayor Steve Langert to declare a state of emergency for the city.All non-essential persons and their motor vehicles are not to be driving or parked on city streets, said Police Chief Robert Lawson.

Chief Lawson has spoken with some of the local school and has urged them to stay closed tomorrow as snow conditions are expected to leave another 12 inches overnight.

“One of our concerns, is that we have a hospital in town, and we have to keep the streets near the hospital clear,” Lawson said, referring to Kimball Medical Center.

The declaration of emergency went into effect at around 7:30 p.m. and follows declarations of emergency issued by the state of New Jersey and Ocean County
