Amid a surge in stabbing attacks over the past two weeks, Israel’s Magen David Adom first aid service has published a video with instructions on how to administer potentially life-saving emergency treatment to victims.
“When a stabbing happens, it happens fast, all you need to do is call MDA at 101 and stop the bleeding. If there are pepole around you, ask them for help. The most important thing to do is press hard on the wound, if the weapon is still stuck inside, do not try to remove or move it. Apply pressure on either side of the bleeding to apply pressure on both sides of the bleeding,” instructs a woman in the video.
“A stab would can be life threatening even if it isn’t bleeding. Look for additional stab wounds and stop the bleeding. Speak to the victim while you help him, try to reassure him and don’t let him move until MDA arrives,” she goes on.
“Remember, your safety comes first, so make sure you aren’t in danger. You can’t help the victim if you are wounded.” Times of Israel
