Video: NJ GOP in Gov’s Race Have First TV Debate

nj-governor-race[Video link below.] Two Republicans who want their party’s nomination to run against New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine in November will meet in their first televised debate Tuesday night.
Former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie and former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan will appear on New Jersey Network at p.m. The hour-long debate will also be available on the Web.

A third GOP candidate, Assemblyman Rick Merkt of Morris County, won’t participate. Merkt failed to raise enough money to qualify for public financing.

Corzine won’t have to debate three Democrats who are challenging him. The former Wall Street executive is funding his own campaign and his opponents haven’t raised enough money to qualify for state campaign cash.
